Meat Loaf

Meat Loaf

Today’s blog post focuses on a recipe in honor of my favorite rockstar by the same name. September 27th is Meat Loaf’s birthday – that is the singer, not the food. I don’t know if the food has a birthday. Hmmm? Apparently October 18th is actually National Meat Loaf Appreciation Day, but I really think it should get reassigned to September 27th. Just saying…

Anyway, I have been a Meat Loaf fan ever since 1994, when I first heard the hit song, “I’d Do Anything for Love” blast through my radio speakers. I’ve also been a fan of the dinner favorite for just about as long. So in this post, my two favorites collide. I always try to make meat loaf on Meat Loaf’s birthday. Confused yet? I sure hope not, lol.

Back in 1999, I had the pleasure of meeting Meat in person. He was on a book signing tour to promote his autobiography, To Hell & Back. One stop on the tour was at a Borders Book Store in Chicago. For me, it was a dream moment for sure.

Check out this clip of Mr. Loaf on Hallmark’s Home & Family tv series from 2016. The episode showcases his favorite at-home recipe for Shrimp Biryani. To watch video, click here. You can also find the printable recipe version of Shrimp Biryani here.

Even if you aren’t a big Meat Loaf (the singer) fan like I am, I guarantee your whole family will become a big fan of this recipe – moist, tender, delicious and easy to prepare. Try out this elevated version of a dinnertime classic tonight.
