Skeptical of Trying Plant-Based Burgers?

Who has been skeptical of trying plant-based burgers? For some, these meatless morsels are all the rage, while others (e.g. me) hold their reservations.

As of this writing, planet earth has become overwrought by the coronavirus pandemic. That in turn has caused absolute chaos at the supermarkets. In an effort to stockpile food out of fear, store shelves have been left vacant. So when I went to buy ground beef, all that was left amidst empty shelves were a few packages of Light Life Brand Plant-Based Burgers.

I admit I was even more suspicious that this was the only thing left. Were these burger wannabes so bad that no one wanted them even in desperation? However, during this time of shopping uncertainly, I was happy to snag anything edible. So the time had finally come to bite the bullet…and guess what?

Turns out I actually LOVED ’em!

Normally there are several different brands in the supermarket, Light Life just happened to be the only brand there when I needed food. The “meat” base is made using pea protein, which is said to fill you up without weighing you down. The other key incentives are 20G protein per serving, No GMOs, Soy Free, Gluten Free and 73% less fat than beef.

The trick to enjoying plant-based burgers though, is to prepare them right. Follow these steps to a great meal in minutes…

Firstly, gather your ingredients. Along with the plant-based burgers, you will need a large sweet onion sliced, package of sliced mushrooms and favorite seasoning blend.

In large skillet, heat up olive oil over medium heat.

Generously season patties on both sides – I really like the blend of McCormick’s Grill Mates Montreal Steak seasoning.

To heated skillet, add sliced onion and sliced mushrooms. Saute a few moments to soften veggies.

Nestle patties underneath onions and mushrooms. Cook 7 minutes per side. While burgers are cooking, mix a green salad for a quick & easy side.

Serve with ketchup. ENJOY!
